Sunrise Waterlily

My very first gelatin cake, made for my mother's 62nd birthday.  She loves waterlilies and I wanted to make something that mirrored the first blooms she'd grown...  This puppy has so much gelatin you can just pick it up off the plate and it will hold it's shape in your hand.  Also found out that pieces of it bounce rather well; the jelly is almost the same consistency as a soft bouncy ball, though it isn't tough to chew.

Medium is gelatin (fruit-juice and milk bases); the flower was achieved by mixing a milk-based gelatin with edible dyes and using bladed needles to inject the pigmented gelatin into the clear, juice-based gelatin.
